Questo libro forse è l'unico che dice realmente come stanno le cose. Di libri su come perdere peso e gestire la dieta ne ho letti tanti ma finalmente c'è qualcuno che dice che le diete per la perdita del peso non fanno miracoli e non sono idonee per lo sportivo.
Consiglio questo libro a tutti i praticanti di sport e non solo perchè anche se con lunghi giri di parole e forse troppi esempi esprime un concetto base molto importante : mangiare bene, regolarmente è meglio che privarsi del cibo sperando di raggiungere obbiettivi duraturi nel tempo........lo consiglio sopratutto come riferimento per la gestione del peso.

This book is perhaps the only one that really says how things are. I've read so many books on how to lose weight and manage your diet but finally there is someone who says that diets for weight loss are not suited for sports athletes.
I recommend this book to all practitioners of sports and not just because even if with long turns of phrase, and perhaps too many examples expresses a basic concept very important: eat well as much as you can, you'd better regularly deprive yourself of food, hoping to reach goals long-lasting .. I recommend it ...... especially as a reference for weight management.

This is a very detailed book about nutrition for athletes. Sometimes even too detailed. Very often chapters could be explained in 20 words but the author writes pages about the same concept, over and over again.

In any case, it would be a very good book about nutrition and I would have gave 4 stars if I wouldn't have been vegan. The way the author talks about vegans is so irritating, and sometimes even confusing. Some chapters start with titles like "Eat meat" but they end with "if you don't it's ok". I think the author is pretty much confused of what being vegan is all about. He describes vegans as a bunch of health focused people that don't eat meat and dairy because they have read the China Study. Does the author know that 90% vegans choose to avoid animal products because they find killing animals a matter of social injustice. Does the author know that 90% vegans choose to avoid animal products because eating meat causes enormous amounts of pollution and the meat industry is one of the biggest cause of climate change?

Before comparing veganism to paleo and other food choices, maybe the author should try to understand the difference between an ideology and food trends.

Il libro si apre definendosi non come un libro di diete, ma come uno strumento che insegni a seguire alcuni comportamenti vistuosi che, nel tempo, consentano un dimagrimento consistente. Ovviamente, associando il tutto al movimento.
Alcuni di questi comportamenti virtuosi, almeno per me, fanno già parte del quotidiano ma, considerando che il target è il pubblico americano, vengono ribaditi ed approfonditi.

Como todos livros do Fitzgerald, muito bem escrito e gostoso de ler. Tem algumas coisas ultrapassadas para perda de peso. Nesse quesito, prefiro os conceitos do livro "The obesity code".
Acho legal os conceitos de ciclar períodos focados na perda de peso, e períodos focados na performance. Também achei interessante a lista dos melhores alimentos para corredores, explicando por que cada um vai te ajudar.
O DQS, onde ele dá ou tira pontos a cada porção de alimento que vc ingere daquela categoria é uma opção legal, mas existem hoje apps que controlam a ingestão calórica facilmente, que prefiro. Vale a pena ler sim, se você for corredor, pois não tem muita coisa sobre nutrição específica para corrida, que não seja um bocado de receitas, por aí.

Autor geht detailliert auf den Zusammenhang zwischen Gewicht, Lauftempo ein, gibt aber auch sehr viele Tipps für gesunde Ernährung, Gewichtskontrolle und ähnliches mehr. Entgegen der Vermutung ist es kein "dünner ist besser" Buch, sondern er versucht dem Leser ein gesundes Mittelmaß zu vermitteln.

This is a great book!

Heavily backed by scientific studies. Gives deep insight into what to eat and how to eat the right amount. Understand which weight you need for racing. Lots of real-life examples of pro's who work on their weight. This is like the bible of weight management for athletes.
I found it has lots of biking references, (me being a biker) is really good.

I made lots and lots of notes as I read this.

I now use the DQS app on my android and lost around 2 pounds. Good stuff, reccomend.

Great book. Am sick of books which seem to assume that all people (or rather, women) care about is "fitting in skinny jeans" and that we sit around eating when not hungry due to boredom or having Issues. Although this is aimed at elite/above average athletes, the advice is equally applicable to anyone who enjoys a sport, wants to be good at it and feels they would be helped shed a few pounds. The advice has helped me to manage my appetite (no more "runger") and to have enough energy for running without overeating. Mainly common sense healthy eating, but it helps to know what you are doing right and what you are doing wrong (for me - avoiding nuts and having too much protein for breakfast!) Interesting to see what the pros eat too. Highly recommended.
